Apolo Ohno has recently opened his own company, a company which he hopes will change the face of sport in the US and across the globe. This ex Olympian has a truly competitive nature, and he obviously knows a thing or two about the sporting world, and so this may seem like an obvious next move for such a competitive person in such a specialized field. His goal with the company, which is called Allysian Sciences, is to capitalize on his championship sporting experience and directly infuse it into the lifeblood of the company. The flagship product is a supplement designed to enhance the mental performance of athletes during high stress competitions, and so far, in the year that they have been open, things are looking good. His natural passionate and energy has been instrumental in getting the company off its feet, and he is deeply committed to producing genuinely game changing products that are truly effective. He has public-ally stated that he will not be satisfied until “Gold Medal, record breaking, world class” output has been achieved by users of his product. This might be in the form of a college footballer, or a company CEO; the high levels of stress and endurance required of such individuals is comparable to that of a professional athlete, and he hopes to market it to both professions. Ultimately, he hopes to sell his product to millions of users around the world, and to change perceptions about what it is possible to achieve in the sporting and business world.
Outside of his business and sporting life, he is also a decorated philanthropist, who has become well known for his generous donations and contributions to such noble causes as defeating illnesses such as HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and Tuberculosis. He is also known for donating to the Ronald McDonald House after the 2012 Olympic Games.
In an interview, he was recently recorded as saying:
“Do I feel any pressure as the most decorated Winter Olympian in American history? None at all. The only pressures that I know I face are those of how to pay it forward: How can I continually make a positive impact in people’s lives, help others achieve their dreams, create their own Olympic mindset, creating champions within themselves?” Clearly, this is a man with great ambition, and who knows how he intends to achieve it.
